This information was disclosed, June 17, 2016 by SWECSON President, Louis Nkembi, while chairing the network’s Annual General Assembly in Buea.
Mr. Nkembi said the feasibility project kicked off early this year with the creation of a website so that the activities of members can reach a wider public and attract partnerships for organizational growth and sustainability.
The SWECSON boss thanked the Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF), Nkong Hill Top Association for Development (NADEV), and Reach Out Cameroon (ROC) for their financial support to the network.
Mr. Nkembi said he was proud to defend the network and ready to position it as a leading civic responsible civil society. He complained that no proper handing-over from the previous executives and collaboration from some members have hindered him from delivering the “magic success” expected of him
“No reports of past achievements/projects and finances and lack of collaboration from some members were just like showing the road but holding the ropes. As a result, most activities were handicapped and there is no base to consolidate future actions” Mr. Nkembi lamented.
He however disclosed that SWECSON is gradually walking to becoming a stronger network which is able to solve the real problems of the people of the South West Region.
“We have the Vision Committee, Goodwill Ambassador Committee and the Divisional Committee, who are all working together to ensure that the network becomes a major contributor to the socio-economic development of the South West Region” the SWECSON President said.
He added that the network has pipeline projects on human trafficking, visibility, and environmental conservation.
For the vision of the mandate to be achieved, the president implored members to support their leadership, diversify their thinking, and build an institutional framework that will integrate different shades of opinions from different stakeholders.
SWECSON Treasurer, Mrs Nti Gospel, on her part, said she is confident the network will succeed.
“We have an action plan, we just need to follow it” the treasure stated. A crowd is not needed; with just few committed members, the network can always move forward and its objectives attained” she said.
Mrs Nti however called on members to bring ideas together and work as a team so as to have a more vibrant civil society network.
At the end of the meeting, Louis Nkembi called on NGOs, who have been sceptical to join the network to do so for benefits abound. He said the network is not welcoming “dirty” organizations that are not accountable for their actions.
