Pig Farmer Cheated Of 100.000 Prize At Agro-pastoral Show
Who could have imagined that pig farmer, Cornelius Tankeh, was going to be defrauded of a cash prize of 100.000 francs cfa by the very people who organised the South West Agro-pastoral show in Buea in December, 2012?
Tankeh was announced winner of the Minister’s Prize for piggery as his animal beat all the other pigs in the sty for the 100.000 francs cfa award at the 2012 Edition of the South West Regional Agro-pastoral Show.
“But I was shocked when I opened the envelope and discovered 10.000 francs cfa only,” Tankeh told The Green Vision.
The farmer said he was ashamed, embarrassed and devastated when he found only ten thousand in the brown envelope.
“I immediately approached the person who handed me the envelope, told him it contained not 100.000 but 10.000 only,” said Tankeh, “but the gentleman just shrugged and said there was nothing to do about it.”
He adds, “The official left immediately after giving me the envelope.”
He said he felt insulted as he had used his own money (20.000 francs cfa) to move his pigs, goats, tomatoes and other farm produce all the way from Limbe.
“Earlier, an official of the Delegation of Agriculture in Limbe had asked me to fuel their vehicle to transport me to Buea,” Tankeh said.
The Minister’s Prize included a cart (push truck), a food flask, two rakes, a pair of rain boots and a spraying can.
Officials of the Delegation of Agriculture were not available to refute Tankeh’s allegation.
